How long does it really last?
The question every client asks, and the one every future technician must know how to explain. The answer comes down to one simple thing, the natural cycle of your lashes.
It is a client's first question, and it is an excellent one. How long will my beautiful lashes last? The honest answer has nothing to do with the quality of the glue or the skill of the technician, well, not only. It comes down to something no one controls, the natural life of your lashes. Understanding this means understanding the whole craft.
- A set stays beautiful for 3 to 4 weeks, then thins out naturally.
- A refill every 3 weeks keeps an even look.
- Good daily care makes the result last noticeably longer.
How long a set stays beautiful
A full set keeps its lovely look for about three to four weeks. Not because the extensions wear out, but because the natural lashes carrying them live their own life. Little by little, some fall out, taking their extension with them, and the lash line thins. This is perfectly normal, and it is even reassuring, it means your natural lashes are healthy and renewing themselves.
Why they fall, the lash life cycle
Here is the key to everything. Each natural lash follows a cycle, just like hair. It grows, it matures, then it falls out and a new one takes its place. An extension is placed on a lash at a given moment in that cycle. When that lash reaches the end of its run and falls, the extension falls with it. Nothing abnormal, it is biology.
that's life,
not the glue
Refills, every 3 weeks
This is where the refill, or touch-up, comes in. Roughly every three weeks, the technician places fresh extensions on the natural lashes that have regrown, and removes the ones that have migrated or shifted. The look becomes full and clean again. It is this regular appointment that builds all the loyalty in the craft, a satisfied client comes back every three weeks, sometimes for years.
The right daily care habits
What the client does between two appointments matters enormously. The habits that make a set last come down to a few simple rules. Cleanse gently every day with a suitable cleanser, because a clean lash holds better. Brush softly with a small brush to keep the lash line aligned. And that is all, simplicity protects.
The habits that make a set last
- Cleanse
- every day, suitable product
- Brush
- softly, lash line aligned
- Avoid
- oils, oily products, rubbing
- Refill
- every 3 weeks
What damages a set
On the flip side, a few habits noticeably shorten how long it lasts. Oily products and oils dissolve the glue, so avoid them near the eyes. Rubbing or pulling at your lashes tears off the extensions and weakens the natural lash. Waterproof mascara, very hard to remove, forces you to rub, so skip it. Sleeping with your face crushed into the pillow wears down the affected side. Nothing dramatic, just reflexes to pass on to every client.
Knowing how to explain means building loyalty
